On occasion, I have directed the choirs at First Baptist Church, Hammond, Indiana; Thomas Road Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Virginia; Jacksonville Baptist Temple, Jacksonville, Florida; Grace Baptist Church, Kankakee, Illinois; First Baptist Church, Ruskin, Florida; and others. It was my privilege to direct the music for many Sword of the Lord Conferences for Dr. John R. Rice and one National Sword Conference where I led over five thousand people in the song services. I taught music direction at three colleges and put on numbers of music seminars. For almost five years I directed the music at Trinity Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. During this time I was ably assisted by my wife, Dr. Winifred Beebe, a sacred music major, the church organist. An excellent musician, she helped me a great deal in many of the problems that arose in the music ministry. She was director of the primary choir for some time and also started a teen singing group composed of six girls that we aptly named the "Sixteens." She would also work with soloists, duets, quartets, groups, and anyone else who wanted to practice with her for musical specials, including our musical guest soloists. She and I would plan the music so that when the special music was presented, we would have quality to reflect a well-planned evangelistic atmosphere.
